About Us – The story behind Baobab Bungalows
Welcome to Baobab Bungalows! Opened in 2023 by friends Arjan van Honk, Nathan and Remco, our resort is nestled in the village of Jambiani.
Inspired by their love for the island, its stunning beauty, the warm-hearted locals and the laid-back lifestyle, Arjan and his friends decided to bring their vision to life. During their annual friends’ gathering, the idea of comfortable long stay houses took shape. They realized that most accommodations in the area were hotels, lacking the comfort and convenience of a true home, complete with a kitchen and complete privacy.
After months of construction, Baobab Bungalows opened for visitors on 1st of June 2023. Each Bungalow and villa apartment has been thoughtfully designed to provide a memorable and relaxing stay, ensuring guests to feel at ease and have the freedom to create their own space.

Zanzibar power blackout
Zanzibar is famous for its power cuts, but to make your stay perfect, we offer a backup generator. If the power shuts off, we will turn on the generator for you.
We love the beautiful island of Zanzibar, the richness, white sanded beaches and green it offers. We honor this breathtaking environmental diversity by separating our waste, by creating smart water solutions, and by asking our guests to switch off the air conditioning while the generator runs. With these solutions, we help to reduce damages to the environment.
In general, a power blackout lasts for a few minutes up to a few hours, but it could lead up to a full day. Our advice? Go enjoy one of the many breathtaking sightseeing places or enjoy a perfectly arranged tour, when a power cut occurs. This way you’ll make your stay even better.
